Staying Positive (Part 2)

Failure is not the end of an attempt. If you start out on a trip and take a wrong direction, you don’t turn around and head home. You search the map, and ask directions, and laugh about the troubles when you reach your hotel.

The same thing goes for a journey in life. Every time you decide to make a change, you are taking yourself in a new direction. It’s okay if it doesn’t take you straight to your goal. Back up, consider your intended destination, and search for ways on how to get there.

Plan for the Best

Improvement is fun, whether you’re fixing up some old rickety shack or fixing the problems in your life. Imagining the most wonderful outcome keeps your feet moving forward. Those daydreams keep you active.

No matter how ridiculous it sounds, find pictures that represent what you want to change in your life and post them in appropriate places. You want to wear a size 5? Take a picture of that sexy red dress and tape it … in the refrigerator. Is a better paying job on your list of wants? Cut a Dodge Viper out of a magazine and tape it to your coffee maker, or better yet, your steering wheel.

Focus on your dreams enough to keep you striving.

Be Proud of Yourself

Self-confident people take note of their abilities. To be able to say, “I want this” and then to put in place a plan for getting it … that’s a big thing. So many people say they want to lose weight, but they don’t want to wait to get the little steps out of the way. So many people say they want to get their finances under control but they don’t want to spend a few dollars to really check out their credit reports.

If you’ve put for the effort to making a bite-sized plan, you’ve done more than 80% of people do. That’s something to be proud of. If you can do that, you can complete your little goals … and your big ones too.
